CLASH AT DIABLO'S HIGHWAY

As the U.S. declares war on the drug cartels of Central and South America, the Mexican Government is toppled by the criminal organizations. Without oversight from their former federal government to stem the tide of proceeds from drugs, weapons, and human trafficking, the cartels have become exponentially more powerful. Warlords now reign over huge swaths of the former country, and U.S. Forces now clash with them regularly along the U.S. & Mexico Border in a futile attempt to protect border states from the backlash of civil instability. U.S. ROE has shifted from arrest, detain, and deport to search and destroy, secondarily seizing any terrain that provides tactical advantage on either side of the border. While efforts to slow human trafficking have been largely successful, intelligence and surveillance note a rapid increase in drug and weapon trafficking in the Diablo Highway area. U.S. Intelligence now points to a high profile meeting between Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada of the Sinaloa Cartel with an Iranian Jihad organization. Undercover CIA operatives responsible for the intel have gone dark. Their last report roughly outlines a plot to smuggle at least 2 “dirty” bombs across the border and detonate them in major U.S. cities. U.S. Special Forces have been ordered into the area to bolster conventional forces operating at the border. Their mission is to stop the threat using any means necessary. The use of force has been authorized.
